Fernox TF1 System Filters are relatively new on the market and excellent at doing what they are designed for. Now I fit a Fernox TF1 system filter on every combi install and where appropriate on other boilers.
I personally feel these are better than the Magnaclean alternative and much better than the spinflo or magnetic type but there is a great deal of choice on the market to suit all budgets and circumstances. The hydrocyclonic and magnetic TF1 filter removes both magnetic and non magnetic system debris.
They are easy to install in either vertical or horizontal pipework preferably on the boiler return and available in both 22mm and 28mm
Now with the addition of the installer pack complete with F1 And F5 system additives there is no reason a system shouldn’t be flushed correctly on installation then treated to give total protection.
Everything you need in one box. These are NOT a substitute for correct flushing but a great addition for system protection. Remember a manufacturer will not honour the warranty if the system is not flushed and treated correctly.
What do you think about the Fernox TF1?
I agree TF1 all the way (available at plumb-bay) I also put them on all installs and have even fittedw them on existing installs as an addition, there great bits of kit and in my opinion the best on the market at this moment in time. Although if they where to bring out a smaller unit to fit in those tight spaces it’d make the TF1 even greater
TF1 easily beats the Magnaclean. The main advantage of it is its easy to clean without the need to touch the valves or break any seals. Magnacleans leak from the 2 places you have to disturb to clean it, the valves and the lid seal.
Fitted quite a few tf1s no issues so far. never fitted a maganclean but taken quite a few leaking ones out.
I also prefer the TF1, you don’t need to touch the valves to clean it out and I think its easier for the customer to do themselves. The magnacleans reliability record isn’t great, however the TF1 is fairly new so yet to see, but does seem alot more robust. Fitted a couple and quite happy with them.
I love the Fernox TF1 they sell very well and never an issue reported. A very powerful magnetic filter. I have a transparent display model with debris, showing how well it works.
Prefer spirotech, the dirt and air is a great bit of kit on an open vent system, you put it on the flow though for air separation, the new mb3 is a double magnet and very nice, 25 year warranty and cheaper than magnaclean and tf1
I Sell Spirotech too but the magnet is not as powerful as the TF1. The area around the gauze is very limited and close to the inlet/outlet so can effect the flow. The Tf1 is also easier to clean. Don’t get me wrong I like the Spirotech but
I have carried out test on display with the:
Fernox Tf1
Magnaclean
Fernox Boiler Buddy
Spirotech
Inta Magnatech….
….and the TF1 comes up trumps for system dozing, most powerful magnet and ease to clean.
Yeah we are also big users of the Tf1 FIlter. We only started using them around 2 years back when we used Magna Clean prior to that.
The Tf1 is a far superior filter and does exactly what it says on the tin!
Check the filter half an hour after installation on an existing system, even one that has been fully flushed and you will be amazed.
Good product.
You tried the new mb3? Has extra magnet. Plus the filter inside is brilliant. Great YouTube vid on spirotech. Very good
I believe that all these filters are just a cover up to make money rather than dealing with the real issuer AIR, if air is eliminated from the system, then no corrossion can take place, if insallers put in place proper deaeration then there would be no need for filters, lets get things right
